With heavy heart, we are saddened to
announce the death of Mzee Peter Madende Gaga that occurred suddenly on Sunday,
August 13, 2023, while in recovery during a brief hospitalization in
Kisumu, Kenya.
Peter Madende Gaga was the patriarch
of our large family. He was husband of Joyce Madende of Springfield,
Massachusetts, Judith, Rose, Maureen and the late Elizabeth Madende, all of
Kenya.
His children included Luke Madende
of Kisumu, Peter Wakiaga of Nairobi, Denis Madende of Grafton, Massachusetts,
Dorsila and Wendy, both of Poughkeepsie, New York, Maureen of Seattle,
Washington, and Lameck, Collins, Nancy, Elizabeth, Florence and Eliver Madende,
all of Nairobi, Kenya.
He was brother of the later Hon. Gor
Misiani, Mama Amelea Wadeya, and George Gaga and Jorim Gaga, both of
Poughkeepsie, New York.
He was brother-in-law of Caren Gaga,
Grace Gor and Pamela Okoth, all of Poughkeepsie, New York.
The late Peter Gaga was uncle of
Bill Gor and Susan Mendy of Maryland, Joyce Gor of North Carolina, Douglas Gor,
Yvone Gor, Vivian Gor, Luke Gor, Nicky Gor, Dennis Gor, Jennifer Ncube of
Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Roselyn Gaga, Justin Gaga, George Josiah, David Okoth,
Teresa Okoth, Samwel Okello and Benson Okello, all of Poughkeepsie, New York.
He leaves behind a whole host of
other relatives including sons- and daughters-in-law, nephews and nieces, grand
nephews and nieces.
Funeral arrangements are being made
and burial is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Akonjo
Village, Migori County.
