We are saddened to announce the death of Mama Hulda Atieno Ouma of Gunda Village, Kaswanga in Rusinga Island, Homa Bay County.
Mama Hulda Atieno Ouma passed on in Nairobi, Kenya on June 19, 2023. She was wife of the late Musa Ouma Ongonga of Kaswanga. She was co-wife of Grace Akinyi Ouma and the late Mary Atieno “Nyaseme” Ouma.
Mama Hulda Atieno was the mother of Grace Gor of Poughkeepsie, New York, Raph Karume Ouma of Henrico, Virginia, the late Peter Oronge, Victor Ouma of Kaswanga and Rosa Maira of Nairobi.
She was stepmother of Harry Ouma, Martin Ouma, Yvonne Musa, Lina Ouma, Sarah, Akinyi Apidi, Kennedy Ouma and Samuel Ouma.
The late Mama Hulda Ouma was the daughter of Mzee Sila Atonga and the late Mama Flora Adero of Wayando Village, Rusinga Island.
She was sister of the late Reuben Owiti, the late Musa Ouma, Isayah Ochilo of Oregon, USA and Eunice Orwa of Kolo, Rusinga Island.
She was the mother-in-law of Benta Mwalo, Diana Atieno and Vivian Adhiambo, the late Simion Gor Misiani and Tobias Maira.
Mama Hulda Ouma’s grandchildren include Beffy, Stacy, Yvonne, Vivian, Lucas, Harriet, Tabitha, Herbert, Ken, Irvin, Audrey, Derrell, Seba (Nyaruku), Moseso and Happy. Her great-grandchildren include Ryan, Clair and Zowi.
The late Mama Hulda Ouma was sister-in-law of the late Raphael Kwala and Mama Philster Nyayiera, the Jacob Odhiambo and Elizabeth Odhiambo, Michael Ongonga and Benard “Nyaburi” Omondi.
The body is at Umash Funeral Home in Nairobi.
Burial will take place on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at her home in Gunda Village, Kaswanga, Rusinga Island in Homa Bay.
