We’re saddened to announce the demise of our mother and a grandmother to many, Mama Dorina Akeyo Oburu.  Mama Dorina was called to glory and rest on Friday, July 19th 2024.  

We thank God for the gift and sharing of her life with us.  She lived a Christian life and reached 86 years of age, God’s privilege that allowed her to see and share her life with her children, and grand children.  Mama Dorina was the mother to Eunice Judith Auma Ganda, Dr. Gilbert J.O.F Oburu, Ruth Asha Owino, Brian Oburu, and Margaret Oburu.  

She was the step mother to Solomon Oburu, Wajumbe Oburu, Peter Oburu, Samwel Oburu, Mary Ochieng, Janet Odhiambo, Damaris Omondi, Hellen Omondi, Joshua Oburu and Thaddeus Oburu among others.  Mama Dorina was the grandmother to Henry Ganda, Dr. Peter Oburu, Darius Ganda, Judith Odhiambo, Linda Gewa, Benjamin Ganda, Mike Odhiambo, Dr. Victoria Crow, Roseanne Ganda, Brenda Ochieng’, Lillian Odhiambo, Stacey Owino, Dorene Owino, Fiona Akoth, Benjamin Owino, Ipa Oburu, Sean Oburu, Hillary Oburu, Giselle Oburu, Erica Asembo, Gilbert Jr Oburu, Barack Oburu, and Amber Montana Asembo amongst others.  She was the mother in-law to Peres Oburu, Claris Nyabwa Oburu, Prisca Onimbo-Oburu, Beryl Awino-Oburu, Carol Oburu, Jackline Wandago-Oburu, amongst others. 

The body is currently lying at Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi.  The burial is scheduled for Friday, 9th August 2024 at The late Mzee Hellekiah Oburu’s home in Rusinga Island.  The requiem mass will be held on August 7th at Nairobi Central SDA Church.  The body shall leave for Rusinga on Thursday, August 8th 2024.  

The fundraising harambee ceremony will be held at Nairobi Central SDA Church on Wednesday, July 31st from 5:00 pm.

We thank God for His gift of the life of mama Dorina, and the period He allowed mama to share that life with us.  May the Lord continue to favor us all with His blessing.
