Mzee Otieno Nundu

It’s with sorry that we announce the death of Mzee Otieno Nundu,  87,  on September 26, 2024.

 

Mzee Nundu hailed from Kawanga Sublocation, in Rusinga, Homa Bay County.

 

Nundu is best remembered as the last bodyguard of Kenyan Minister for Economic Planning Tom Mboya. Mboya was assassinated by alone gunman on the streets of Nairobi on July 5, 1969.

 

Nundu was born and raised on Rusinga Island in 1937, and began to work for Mboya in 1957 when he was 20.

 

Otieno Nundu is survived by seven children and many grandchildren. He will be buried on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at his Kawanga home, Rusinga Island, Homa Bay County.
