George K’Oluoch Onyango was born on September 28, 1954, he was
the beloved son of Martin Oluoch and Truphena Adero, and the stepson of Eunice
Nyangweso and Nelissa Atieno.
He grew up in a large, loving family with siblings Beldina Midega,
Anna Nyasala, Julia
Atieno, Amos Odhiambo, James Okach, Lucas Oluoch, Wilson Tieng,
Zainabu Awuor, Dorcas Achieng, and Martha Musungu.
He was also a cherished son-in-law to Jotham and Melap Sibuchi,
as well as to Tarasila,
and Mary Mutambah.
His educational journey began at Anyiko Primary School from 1962
to 1968. He then attended Sawagongo from 1969 to 1972 and continued on to Mangu
High School for 1973 and 1974.
From 1975 to 1980, he studied at the University of Nairobi,
where he earned his Bachelor of
Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB.Ch.B) in 1980. A very
bright student, he later completed his Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and
Gynaecology (M.Med Obs/
Gynae) in 1988, also at the University of Nairobi.
Professionally, he began his career at Machakos District
Hospital, serving as a Medical Superintendent and part-time consultant from
1980 to 1983. After completing his master’s, he joined the University of Nairobi’s
medical school as a lecturer from 1988 to 1992.
During this period, he also ventured into private practice. He
opened his first clinic in Church House in 1987, marking the start of his
journey in independentmedical practice. In 2000, the clinic was relocated to Electricity
House, where it continued to grow and serve countless patients.
He met Frida Lwile Sibuchi in December 1980, and they were married in March 1982, beginning a beautiful journey together built on love, partnership, and family. George and Frida were blessed with four beloved children and two grandchildren, the late Dr. Ruth Laura Onyango, Truphena Atieno Onyango, Brian Daudi Onyango, Emmanuel Daniel Onyango, Iris Anne Juma and Jazhara Ayana Atieno.
George met Elizabeth Mutambah in the early 90’s, and
they remained friends over the years. They shared a lot
of interests together and got married in 2012.They were
blessed with one lovely son Neal Oluoch.
In the late 1970s, during his time as a student, he had a relationship with Grace Nyakiti. Though their union was never formally consummated through marriage, they were blessed with two beloved children and grandchild, Diana Apeles Onyango, Martin Oluoch Onyango and Naleah Gracie Murimi. Grace remembers him as a perfect gentleman, a kind and brilliant man, and a supportive partner and best friend to the very end. He was not only a loving father to his children and grandchild but also extended warmth and care to her family.
A requiem service scheduled for Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the
All-Saints Cathedral in Nairobi. Burial will follow on Saturday, March 22, 2025,
in Gem-Yala, Siaya County.
