Dr. Phoebe Muga Asiyo
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce
the passing of Hon. Dr. Phoebe Muga Asiyo, former MP for Karachuonyo
Constituency, on July 17, 2025, in North Carolina after long illness
bravely borne.
She was daughter to the late Pastor Joel Omer and Miriam Amolo
Omer of Gendia, Kendu Bay, Kenya. She was stepdaughter of Rhoda Omer, also of Gendia.
Phoebe
Muga Asiyo was the wife of the late Richard Asiyo.
She was mother of Seti, Atieno, Mary, Juni and Caesar Asiyo, and
sister of the late Maritha Orinda, late
Perpetua Gaya, the late John Ochieng, the late Philemon Ouma, Patroba, Jared of Canada, Samwel, Joshua of UK, Joyce Osano, Grace Gor and Eunice Oyugi.
She was sister-in-law of the late Phillip Orinda Mboya, the late
Fredrick Gaya Odolo, and the late Pastor Gershon Osano, William Gor, Samuel
Oyugi of New York, Mary, Yvonne, Pamela and Hildah Omer.
Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22,
2025, at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W Williams St., Durham, North Carolina. The
body will leave for Kenya on Monday, August 4.
A second service will be held at the Nairobi Central SDA Church,
Maxwell, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
A farewell celebration and burial will take place at her home in
Wikondiek, Kanyaluo Karachuonyo, Homa Bay County on Friday, August 8, 2025.
