It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Celestine Awino Rareya on July 15, 2025, at the Aga Khan Hospical, Mombasa.
She was the wife of the late Leonard Rarieya Asin, and cherished
daughter of the late Rufinus and Birgita Afwande of Rang'ala, Siaya County. She
was daughter-in-law of the late Benedict and Laetitia Asin of Sakwa, Bondo.
She was mother of Jane, Rosemary, Oscar, James, Elizabeth, Fred,
Angela, and
Maggie Rarieya, and mother-in-law of Sam Omole, Esther Mwaura,
Dorcas Obonyo, Joris Ankersmit, Bethseba Okiya and Andre Thomas.
She was grandmother of Keith, Shane, Bridgit, Celestine, Jeremy,
Sharlene, Silas, Stacey, Samantha, Tatiana, Tamara, and Aviel, and great-grandmother
of Samara and Jabari.
The late Celestine Awino Rareya was sister of Maria, Josephine,
Patricia, the late Bernadette, Mary, Hezza, Joseph and Philip Afuande. She was sister-in-law
of Elizabeth, Helen, Sylvia, and the late Pius, Peter, Dolphin, Gabriel, and
Emmanuel Asin.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated in her honor at St. Joseph's
Catholic Church,
Tudor, Mombasa at noon on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
The cortege will leave Mombasa on Thursday, July 31, 2025, for
her home in Ngulu Village, Sakwa, Bondo, Siaya County.
A Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, at St. Andrew's
Catholic
Church, Bondo.
She will be buried at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at her home in
Ngulu Village, Sakwa, Bondo.
