Professor Thomas Mboya Ongango
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the untimely death of Professor Thomas Tony Onyango Mboya on September 30, 2025, at his farm in Kakrigu Village, Rusinga Island, Suba District in Homa Bay County. He was attacked by at least four armed men with crude weapons.
The
late Thomas Mboya Onyango was a professor and the director of the School of Mathematics
and Statistics at the Technical University of Kenya.
He was son of Mzee Wilson Onyango of Kakrigu Village, Waware in Rusinga Island.
Funeral arrangements are ongoing.
A
service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Laiser Hill
SDA Church.
The
body will leave Montezuma Funeral Home in Nairobi for Rusinga Island at 7 a.m.
on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
Professor Onyango will be buried on Friday, October 24, 2025, at his family farm in Kakrigu Village, Rusinga Island.
